Ruben Lerma was born in Boise, Idaho, on July 13, 1963. He was a lifelong resident of Wilder, Idaho. He attended Wilder Elementary, Wilder Jr. High and graduated from Wilder High School in 1982. He attended BSU and ITT Technical Institute, where he received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Electronics Engineering Technology.

Ruben was a very private man. He had a passion for the outdoors and respected all living things. He was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed being alone with nature, hiking and exploring the outdoors.

He had a fierce loyalty to his family. Ruben was the one that we could all contact and he would be there for us. He took pride in being a father figure to his nieces and taking his nephew Michael to see mountains and fishing areas. He taught him about target practice, hiking and exploring hidden caves and waterfalls. There are so many wonderful memories that we will hold close to our hearts. He lived his life with this quote in mind: “Do good, live a good life. Try to be as happy as is humanly possible.”

Ruben expressed the following quote to his family, “Live life as if you knew that you were going to die tomorrow. No regrets, La Buena Vida.” We, who loved him so dearly, hope that at the end he fulfilled that wish.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Camilo and Dolores Lerma; his brother-in-law, Lorenzo Villarreal; an aunt, Agueda Garcia; and a cousin, Gonzalo Garcia.

He will be missed and forever loved by his surviving family, sisters, Anita Villarreal of Austin, TX and Belinda Almeida of Wilder, ID; several nieces and nephews, Linda Jackson, Christina Villarreal, Robert Villarreal (Melissa), Monica Almeida Dubouzet (Dane) and Jessica Almeida Garcia (Rigo); great nieces and nephews, Michael Soto, Xzavier Villarreal, Skylier Villarreal, Destiney Garcia, Jorge Garcia, Estrella Garcia and Dane Dubouzet Jr.  In addition, he is survived by his cousins from Oregon, Luis Garcia (Estella), Dalia Torres (Albert), Delia Aleman (Frank), and Abel Garcia (Carmen).
