Mother Rozenia Ravenell Sweatman was born June 10, 1927 to the union o fthe late Elizabeth and Harry Ravenell Sr. in Cross, SC.  She was educated in Berkeley County Public Schools.

In 1951, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Joseph Sweatman.  They were blessed with fifteen children and one grandson, Anthony J. Sweatman, reared in the home.

Mother Sweatman, was a stay at home mother who took care of her children, grandchildren and watched other children in the neighborhood.  She was affectionately called “Mammy” by her grandchildren.

She received Christ as her personal savior at Poplar Hill Christian Church at an early age.  She was a dedicated and dependable member who served on many capacities in the church.  Mother Sweatman would always quote, “May the work I’ve done speak for me.”  She was a dedicated missionary member who believed in trusting in God.  She prayed about everything and would say to “hold on to God’s unchanging hands.”

Mother Sweatman served as the President of the Usher’s Board for 40 years.  She believed that standing as the doorkeeper of the Lord’s house required patience, compassion and faithfulness.

Mother Sweatman was also a memeber of the senior for about 45 years.  We enjoyed her melodies of songs she loved to sing: “If I Couldn’t say a Word,” “Holy, Holy, Somebody Touched Me,” “Come on in the Room,” and “Whatever you do for the Master, Let it be Real.”

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Sweatman, six brothers; Bradford, Joe, Perry Lee, Joseph, Albert and James C. Ravenell, four sisters; Minnie Lee Houston, Jeanette Pittman, Maggie Mae Williams and Elizabeth Ravenell.  Two children also proceeded her in death; Corine Simmons and Saul Sweatman, and five grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish in her memory thirteen children: Larry Sweatman Sr. (Mary), Mae S. Brown (Late Cole), Barbara Thompson (Charles), Annette Weldon (Robert), Jerry Sweatman (Marilyn), Lawrence Sweatman (Delores), Rose Ruiz (Robert), Mable Sweatman, Eartha Lambright, Jo Ann Banks, Emma Holman, Ernelle Smalls (Tommy), James Simmons; Jessie Walters (Late Robert).  She also leaves in her memory one brother, Harry Ravenell Jr. (Edna) and three sisters; Annie Lee Ravenell, Mattie Polite, and Mary Hester Ravenell. Two sisters-in-law; Ethel Ravenell and Vermell Ravenell.  She also leaves seventy grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
