ROZANNE SZABO CLOUNTS

June 8,1943 – May 19, 2022

Rozanne Szabo was the first of 5 children born to Charles Joseph Szabo and Veronica Diczku Szabo. She was born in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. The family moved to Dallas, Texas with Rozanne and her two younger brothers, Charles and Pete. Two more siblings, Tim and Sally were born later in the States.

The family traveled to Canada on summer vacations. In 1955, coming back from Canada and on a Highway in McAlester, OK they were in a tragic car accident. Charles died, leaving behind his 34 year old wife and his 5 children. Rozanne was 12 years old at the time and became the second “mom” to her siblings.

Rozanne met and married David Edward Clounts her senior year in high school. They had one son David Jr. and one daughter Shannon and spent many wonderful years in Mesquite, Texas until moving to Quinlan, Texas in the early 90’s. While living in Quinlan, they raised their grandson, Justin (aka Drew). Rozanne had a heart of gold, rescuing countless cats, dogs, birds and also raising a handful of cows.

Rozanne was a maternal figure to everyone who needed her, from working on the farm with her husband and son David Jr.

Rozanne then moved to Florida to live near her daughter Shannon and daughter-in-law, Betsy who managed her care. Rozanne kept busy with activities and physical therapy while fighting her disease with so much grace. She loved to dine out, shop and looked forward to Sunday family dinners with her extended Florida family. She had the best laugh and would light up the room with her silliness.

Rozanne had many special friends and wonderful caregivers throughout her struggle with Parkinson’s.

This last year the disease progressed quickly. On May 19th she took her final breath.

She leaves her son David Jr., her daughter Shannon, her daughter-in-law Betsy along with two grandsons from her son, David III with wife Leslie and Justin Drew with wife Katie.

She also leaves three beautiful great grandchildren Jacy, Dillon and Lilly Rose. She was “Nanny” and adored by them all.

Heaven just got brighter!
