Mr. Simmons peacefully passed away at a Veteran’s Administration Health Care Facility in North Hills, CA.

O’ Gracious Lord, you called your beloved servant home to be with You because You loved him best on the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2014.

On December 7, 1930, Roy Simmons, Jr. was born in Port Arthur, Texas, the first child born to the union of Roy and Georgiana Simmons. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age in Port Arthur, where he also received his formal education.

During the early 1950’s, Roy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country proudly during the Vietnam and Korean Conflicts. He retired in 1972 after twenty-two years of serving his country with honor.

While in the Marine Corps, Roy was stationed in Oceanside, California.

After retirement, Roy took great enjoyment working in his yard and playing with his dog, Tramp. If you couldn’t catch Roy at home, you would probably catch him at a casino. He was an avid reader of all types of literature, especially the Bible. Many would say Roy was a walking encyclopedia. He also enjoyed sketching.

Our Heavenly Father saw his child, Roy Simmons, Jr. and whispered, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I’ve prepared a place for you, so come and take your rest”. Out of obedience, Roy Jr. went to sleep. All Praises be to God that Roy Jr. is only asleep, for we who are true believers in God shall see him again.

Roy Jr. leaves to cherish his memory his children, sisters, brother, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
