Roy Peter Redar, age 84, peacefully transitioned home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying every moment God gave him on earth. He always had a joke and a smile for everyone he met.
Roy was born on February 16, 1932 the son of Edward and Helen (Drywiaski) Redar. He was a graduate from Griffith High School, Class of 1951.
Roy continued his education in the trades as was a Pipefitter in Local #597 for 36 years.
Roy married the love of his life, Iris Ray Gullickson on September 13, 1958 in Griffith, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 2006.
Roy proudly served in the Korean War and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in DeMotte.
Roy was also a member of the VFW & American Legion Post #440. Roy is survived by his children: Rochelle (Dave) Lewandowski of Roselawn, IN; Thad (Anna) Redar of Hebron, IN; Angela Redar of Valparaiso, IN; and Theresa (Scott) Demske of DeMotte, IN; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, and two brothers.
