Burial in the Lone Grove Cemetery will be with the assistance of Billy Needham, Kalub Miller, Derek Gardner, Jeremiah Evers, Andy McMinn and J. P. Hockersmith serving as pallbearers. Honorary bearers include Donna Sue Payne, Bill Pratt, Dow Mitchell, Floyd Mitchell, Bill Needham, Ken McCaskill and Nathan Christian. Military Honors will be provided by the U. S. Army Honors Team.

Roy was born July 20, 1931 at Brock, Oklahoma, son of the late Willie S. “Bill” Hamilton and Marie Jones Hamilton. He moved on to his ‘Forever Home’, Sunday, July 31, 2016, from the local hospital in Ardmore, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years and 11 days.
A lifelong resident of Lone Grove, Roy was a member of the Lone Grove High School graduating class of 1950. He and the former Janetta Ruth Risner were married May 10, 1953. They were the parents of four children, Mike, Kerry, Debbie and Nancy. Janetta passed away, October 8, 1987.

During the Korean War, Roy served in the U.S. Army. A Sergeant in Battery B of the 196th Field Artillery Battalion, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and the Good Conduct Medal. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion, Roy was truly an American Hero.

Roy and Johnnie Lamb Baldwin were married in 1989 and were members of the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church. Roy had been a Telephone Engineer with Southwestern Bell Telephone for many years before retiring. He had also served on the Telephone Pioneers Board, been president of the Telephone Credit Union, and was a Royal Ambassador leader at Northwest Baptist Church. In his leisure time Roy enjoyed the outdoors, boating, golf and football. He was in charge of the headsets for the Ardmore Tiger Club. A mentor too many, Roy was admired by all that knew him.

His family, who will always Cherish Precious Memories, include his wife, Johnnie Hamilton of the home; sons Mike Hamilton and wife, Darla, Kerry Hamilton and wife, Ivy; daughters, Debbie Cypert and husband, Harold, and Nancy Coleman; his step-daughters, Shauna Hacker and Janet Baldwin; grandchildren, Shelby, Samantha, Tammie, Ryen and Logan and great-grandchildren, Mollie and Tatum; his brothers, Harold Hamilton and wife, Sue, Doyle Hamilton and wife, Melba, Warren Hamilton and wife, Nelda, Glen Hamilton and wife, Glenda; sisters, Beatrice Van Buskirk and Genova Stoker; and brother-in-law, Wade DeMoss.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Roy was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Dearl Hamilton and Gerald Hamilton, a sister, Juanita DeMoss and brother-in-law, Ronnie Stoker.
