Roy Lee Tate passed away Monday February 17, 2020 after a brief illness and a 3 month grieving period of the loss of the love of his life. He died of a broken heart. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and later Howard College in Eastlake. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Later he worked at the Norwood Clinic and G.E.S and later Golbro Jewelers where he was a bookkeeper for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isacc LeRoy Tate and Mamie Weir Tate. he was the youngest of their 4 boys. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Fayrene H. Tate. He is survived by his sons James Henry Nicholson and his wife, Robert Wayne Nicholson and his wife, and his daughter Stacey Tate Bearden and her husband. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He spent the last 20 plus years working as a “real bearded” Santa. He took great joy in helping children get the presents from Santa they so desired.
