Mr. Roy Lee Campbell, Sr., age 77, died Monday, October 21, 2019, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS.  No services have been planned at this in Jackson, MS to the late W. C. Campbell, Jr. and Rosa Lee Gotthardt, Roy was a retired Civil Engineer with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. He was a graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS and a graduate of Mississippi State University with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.  Roy served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. Roy loved traveling and especially loved the Smokey Mountains where he enjoyed hiking and white-water rafting and pursuing his hobby of photography. He was a member of MCWDA (Mississippi Country Western Dancers Association) and was well known in the country western dancing community.  He met and fell in love with his wife of 12 years, Sandy, while dancing. Roy is survived by his wife, Sandy Ray Campbell of Oxford, MS; one sister, Sidna McHann of Brandon, MS; his son and daughter, Roy Campbell, Jr. and his wife, Bing, and their daughter, Barbie, of Dumfries, VA, Sherry Page and her husband, David, and her daughters, Ava and Scarlett Graves of Dumfries, VA; Sandy’s son and daughter, Jeremy Hall of Hattiesburg, MS, and Lindsey Sneed and her husband, Justin, of Oxford, MS.. Campbell’s memory may be made to Volunteers for Veterans – Oxford by visiting . During Roy’s time at the Veteran’s Home, this organization helped to improve his stay and it is our hope that they will continue to be able to help other veterans.
