Roy Lee Maxwell, 95, of Temple and formerly of Owl Creek passed away on Friday, November 15, 2019 at a Temple nursing facility.
Mr. Maxwell was born on May 13, 1924 in Gatesville, Texas to James and Jesse (Dossey) Maxwell. After high school graduation, Roy enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served honorably during World War II. Mr Maxwell was released from active duty in 1946 at which time he worked as a mason before beginning a long career in the oil and gas industry. He moved to the Houston area in 1953 and joined Sinclair Petrochemical Company (now British Petroleum) in 1959. Roy worked in oil and gas production for BP until he retired in 1982 at which time he moved back to the Owl Creek area near Belton Lake. Roy married Jeanne Covington in Alvin, Texas on March 17,1947 and they were married for over 72 years before her passing in September of 2019.
Roy is survived by sons Roy L. Maxwell, Jr. and Bill Maxwell (JoAnn), granddaughter Kellie Fundenberger, and great grandchildren Cassidy, Dalton, Maxwell, and Louise Fundenberger.
