Our hero, Roy Kirby Duncan (age 60), loving husband and father, was called home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2016, while on vacation with his family at Lake Wedowee, Alabama. Although sudden, he was surrounded by those who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Duncan; his children Jessica (and Shawn) Williams, and Jonathan (and Traci) Duncan. Poppy was blessed with the love of 5 grandchildren, Taylor, Avery, Mason, Max, and Maya. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy (and Donald) Dixon, and his brother, Kenneth (and Marci) Duncan; his nieces Sunny (and Brian) Helms and Stephanie (and Brent) Okuley; and great-nieces, Braedyn & Ashtyn Helms, and many other loved ones. His life was one of simplicity and adventure. Roy and Janice met in Aviano, Italy and their blissful love story began on the mountain top of Piancavallo and stretched across the world finally settling in his hometown of Newnan, Georgia. He was of great moral character, kindness, and a smile that has been engrained in many hearts throughout his life. Hiking, flying, boating, hunting, and fishing are but a few of his pastimes we were lucky enough to share with him. His hard work and dedication to his family were an inspiration to all who knew him. Unconditional love and strength were what made him our rock but even the best of men are called home eventually. Truly, the Lord blessed us all with his life. We will never forget him, and have faith that one day he will greet us again on the other side with open arms, a smile, and his hazel eyes reflecting his undying love.
