     Mr. Roy J. Ruffin, 92, of Lanett, Al. died Friday, February 14, 2014 at West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Ga.

     Mr.

     Mr. Ruffin was born June 9, 1921 in Lanett, Al.  He became head of the household at age 15 and went to work for West Point Manufacturing while attending high school.  He joined the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, 42nd Bomb Group, 100th Squadron, serving in the South Pacific Theater,   as an armourer-gunner in the tail gun position on a B-25.  He was decorated with two Air Medals for meritorious achievement during hazardous flight missions and received various citations.  After the war, he returned to West Point Manufacturing where he retired as manager of the converting department after earning membership in the 50 year Club.  He received an award for his 65 year membership in American Legion Post 67.  He was an active member of Lanett First United Methodist Church where he served as President of his Sunday school class, President of the Men’s Club, President of the Young at Heart, among service in many other capacities.  He was selected as Man of the Year at Lanett First United Methodist Church in 2001.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and was an avid reader.  He enjoyed touring America with his wife, Pauline.
