Mr. Roy Gene Patterson, of Indianapolis, passed away on the morning of Monday, September 9, 2019 at his residence. He was born October 27, 1960 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Harry Edward and Leona Pearl (Taylor) Patterson.
Roy attended Arlington High School and worked for over 20 years as a machinist with Maplehurst Dairy until the plant closing in 2000.
Roy was a die-hard stock car racing fan. He could be typically be found at the Speedrome doing what he loved. Not only was he a driver, he also served as crew chief for Johnson Racing. He also enjoyed building and running Sand Rails, a special tube frame car. Roy was an avid outdoorsman and outside of racing, enjoyed camping and boating. He was happiest when he was with his family and was referred to by many as ‘everyone’s Uncle’.
Roy is survived by his children, Annie Patterson and Joe Patterson; a step-son, Keith Brock and his special buddy, Shane Cox; his brothers, George (Jeanie) Patterson, Harry Mitchell (Charlene) Osman, John Patterson and Eddie Earl Patterson; the mother of his children, Vicki Patterson; his former spouse, Wilma Brock; his special friend, Sabrina Phillips as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in passing by two sisters, Loretta Coker and Nora Lee Patterson.
