Roy Eugene Smith, born on January 9, 1930 in Acmar, AL. Roy graduated from St. Clair County High School and served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean conflict. He retired from the U.S.P.O. after many years as a letter carrier and retired as supervisor over mail and letter delivery at the Birmingham Post Office. Roy was a humble man with integrity and a Christian. He married Barbara Franklin on September 27, 1952. They were looking forward to celebrating their 64th anniversary. He coached Pee Wee League Baseball at Wahouma Park, Birmingham during the 1960’s and he was the past president of Hewitt Trussville High School Athletic Booster Club. Roy was a Mason and a member of East Lake Lodge #480. He was preceded in death by his father, William Lee Smith, mother, Doris Reeves Smith Fulmer, step-father, Joe H. Fulmer and brother, William Lee Smith, Jr. He is survived by his son, Robert “Bobby, Bob” Van Smith (wife, Renee), granddaughter, Anne Franklin Smith, grandsons, Parker Berte Smith and Chris Harper (Jennifer), great granddaughters, Kennedy Jayne Harper and Bryn Elizabeth Harper, niece, Cynthia Bradshaw (Elliott) of Houston, TX, nephews, Michael Smith (Cynthia) of Richmond, TX and Mark Smith (Trish) of Houston, TX.
