Born to James Reeves Beard and Ethel Christine Beard on June 8, 1931 in Meridian Idaho, he was the fourth and last child. Roy grew in Star and surrounding areas. In 1953 Dad joined the Army where he became a MP and a rank of Corporal, discharged in 1955. He traveled and worked with his bother Wayne in Arizona and Butte Montana.
Roy met Barbara May Neal and her 2 sons Michael and Randy through mutual friends.
Roy and his older brother Wayne had a cabinet business together, B&R Custom Cabinets. Later, after the loss of his brother, Roy went to work for Albertsons Warehouse where he became a lead man for the swing shift. He made many, many friends there. He had a habit of nicknaming a lot of his employees. One of those friendships was “Burly” Brian Carpenter whom he stayed in touch with.
Dad loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends, chopping wood, and he even owned 2 gold mines. He loved the outdoors.
When retired, his passion became his yard and some gardening with mom. He loved to sit at the kitchen table and watch the hummingbirds and squirrels eating peanuts and walnuts, and the birds eating the apples from his many trees. Dad loved his yard and the home he had helped build for his wife and family. He was an avid football fan and could be found in front of the TV watching a game.
Long time friends and neighbors of Mom and Dad, Bob & Jean Schmidt, 45 years of cherished memories and friendship, never forget the Friday night conversations at the kitchen table. They couldn’t have asked for better friends.

After the loss of his loving wife Barbara in 2003, Dad reconnected with a dear friend he had known from younger years, Carol Mansfield. Together they had a lot to share, old and new memories.
Roy moved to Az in Nov 2016 to live with Randy and Laurie and his granddaughter Ashley, where he passed surrounded by family and friends.
Roy is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, grandson Tom Whitlow, both his parents, his brothers Wayne and Sam, and and sister Helen.
Roy is survived by his son Michael Neal, granddaughter Sarah (Joe) Holt, their children Marshal and Catherine, son Randy (Sharon) Beard, their daughter Brandi (Chris) Dominguez and children Riely and Jacob, Tony Allyn, his son Steven, Tina (Bill) Sewell, their son Seth; daughter Laurie (Randy) Whitlow, their grandchildren River and Ashley, sister-in-law Patricia Beard, 3 nieces Cathy, Sandy, Sheryl, a nephew Jim and several great nieces and nephews.
Roy will be so missed by all who knew and loved him. He had the most twinkling eyes and warmest smile. Heaven has its first squirrel feeder. Love you Dad.
