Those left to honor Roy’s memory include his wife, Sandy of Newton; his 2 sons–Roy (and Stephanie) Bowers, Jr. of Newton, and Todd (and Rachel) Bowers of Newton; his 4 grandchildren–Ashton-Marie, Nathaniel, April, and Jeani; his uncle, Tex Ellis of Edmond, Oklahoma; and his surrogate parents, Warren and Pat Cook of Davenport.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Burhl and Mary (Cartmill) Bowers, Sr., and his step-mother, Leona; his brother, Burhl Bowers, Jr.; and his half-brother, Bob Heartman.
Roy attended school in the Quad Cities. After moving to Newton, he worked at Stockton’s Bakery. He then worked for the Maytag Company, where he retired from the shipping/recieving department after 30 years.
