Roy Arthur Brown passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 1:20pm at his residence in Paradise Valley, AZ.
Roy was born on March 16, 1933 in Honolulu, Hawaii with his twin brother Ray Brown. After spending his childhood in Hawaii and Utah, he spent the majority of his youth and early adulthood in Tucson, AZ. Attending Tucson High, he met his wife Vivian during their Senior year. While at Tucson High, this accomplished all-star athlete received a basketball scholarship upon graduation and began attending The University of Arizona, joining the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He graduated in the ROTC program, and served in the Korean War for 13 months, entering as a 2nd Lieutenant and being promoted to 1st Lieutenant. After marrying in 1955, Roy and Vivian spent four years in Los Angeles where he worked for Price Waterhouse before transferring to Phoenix. In early 1970, Roy met Rusty Lyon and the two enjoyed and shared a lifelong business relationship and loyal friendship. In 1971, Roy joined Westcor and the entire Westcor “family” where he became an integral part of the financial affairs and management of the entire Westcor world until the company was purchased by Macerich in the early 2000’s. He enjoyed golfing and bowling until the age of 88.
Roy was known for his strong character, integrity, loyalty and love of his family. He was extremely generous, patient, kind and a hard working successful man. A true leader who always kept a modest and humble outlook, he excelled at just about anything he was interested in, and highly respected by those in his close knit community.
Roy is survived by is devoted wife of 67 years Vivian, and his two children Jeff and Cyndi Brown. Those who were blessed to know Roy will think of him often and miss him always.
The family has celebrated Roy’s life in private and there will not be a public service.
