Roy Amos Harwood, 93, died July 23, 2015 with his wife by his side. He passed from complications due to a heart attack. Roy was born June 24, 1922 in Seattle, WA to Nellie Edwards and A.D. Harwood.  He and his wife, Velta Mae Ownby, were married for 39 years. They met on a blind date and married in Reno, Nevada in 1976. They had one daughter, Susette Mae Webb. Roy also has a daughter, Dianne Preston, from his previous marriage to Jean Gipson, whom he was married to for 26 years.

Roy lived a long, good life. He served three years in the U.S. Navy and had an honorable discharge in 1945. He started driving truck before he joined the Navy and continued afterwards. He drove truck for 65+ years. He won several awards for driving. He drove over one million miles. He then taught future truck drivers for 10 years. Roy loved teaching. He was passionate about what and who he loved.

Roy is survived by his wife, Velta; two daughters, Dianne and Susette; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
