WHITE BIRD: Roy Albert Farmer, 89, passed away Monday, October 16th, 2017 at home in White Bird, Idaho. He was born June 2nd, 1928 in Sacramento CA to Roy & Mayme Farmer.
After high school he went to work for the post office. As part of his duties, he guarded gold shipments going to the railroad, while sitting on the gold bars with a loaded shotgun. Then, in the late 1950’s he went to work in the insurance business. He started 3 general insurance agencies and a NASD broker/dealer firm, where he worked many years until his retirement.
On June 12, 1949, he married his sweetheart, Vivian Mae Crouse. They had 3 children.
Roy was an avid fisherman & hunter. He loved the outdoors & traveling. He spent his summers fishing, hiking and cross-country skiing in the winter at his parent’s cabin in the California Sierras. British Columbia was another favorite fishing spot.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Vivian, his parents, his brother Norman, granddaughter Alisha & son-in-law, Cariol Dobbs.
Roy is survived by his 3 children, Roy A. Farmer II of White Bird, ID, Linda Dobbs of Dixon, California, Alice Johnson of Fairfield, California, 13 grandchildren & 30 great-grandchildren.
