Roy Alan Carlson, 81, of Middletown, husband of the late Marjorie (Woodworth) Carlson, passed away on Wednesday, November 10th at Hartford Hospital. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Theodore and Florence (Williams) Carlson. Roy was a lifelong resident of Middletown and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Carlson’s Store in Rockfall and Carlson’s Bakery and Delicatessen in Middletown and loved gardening, watching birds, and following the New England Patriots. Roy was a humble, quiet man who was always smiling and always had a kind word for people. He is survived by his four daughters, Heidi Carlson-Kennedy and her husband, Edward of Middletown, Kirsten Carlson and her husband, Anthony Kriwokulski of Cromwell, Dr. Gretchen Carlson of Bellevue, WA and Dr. Katrin Carlson and her fiancé, Timothy Moore of Somers; two grandchildren, Ryan and Lucas Kennedy; a sister-in-law, Ruth Carlson and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Theodore R. Carlson and three sisters, June Hetzel, Elna Filanda, and Mary Carlson.
