Roy A. Helfrich of Beckemeyer died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center at the age of 87 years. Mr. Helfrich was born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 5, 1921 the son of Edward and Loretta( Smith) Helfrich.
He married Catherine Casagrand in St. Louis on May 27, 1968 and she survives along with a son: Brian Helfrich and wife Jan of Beckemeyer; stepchildren: Barb Pullem and husband David of Hillsboro, Missouri, Ruth Callaway of Beckemeyer, Paul Schneider and wife Peggy of Imperial, Missouri and Glenn Schneider of Rolla, Missouri; two sisters: Delores Korte of St. Louis and Helen Helfrich of Sweetwater, Texas; 3 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.Roy was retired from Southwestern Telephone and had served in the Army. He was a member of the Holthaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post 1227 of Beckemeyer. He enjoyed woodworking, square dancing and quilting.Mr. Helfrich donated his body to St. Louis University School of Medicine.
