Roxanne (Jones) Wright, 59, of Brooklyn New York, affectionately known as “Pinkie” was born to Lorraine Jones and Melvin Jones on July 11th, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York. She was born a fighter, weighing only 2 pounds at birth and her complexion was “pink” in color (which is how her nickname Pinkie was coined forever).

Roxanne loved the Lord and her whole life was a living testimony to her love for Christ. She was a faithful member of Proverb COGIC where she served as an Evangelist for many years. You would find her singing and leading devotional service and singing one of all time favorite songs “I get Joy When I Think About What the Lord Has Done for Me”.  She also played the tambourine so well she could have been a professional. Roxanne truly loved God and the people of God.

When Roxanne was a young girl, her mother Lorraine was battling cancer and so she grew up with her foster mother Ms. Russ who preceded her in passing. Roxanne’s childhood made a lasting impression on her and it motivated her to also become a foster mother. Roxanne cared for so many children and different families in her home. She would not turn anyone away if there was someone in need of a meal, clothes or a place to sleep. Her childhood and her drive to help others also catapulted her to finish her degree which she finished in December 2019 and was due to walk in her graduation ceremony May 2020.

Roxanne was married to her devoted husband Robert Wright for 39 years. Robert cared for Roxanne every single day until her very last breath.

Roxanne leaves behind in mourning: her husband Robert Wright Sr., her sister Dorothy McCallum and her brother Robert Jones. Her children – Robert Wright Jr., along with his wife Monique Wright, Ranetta Wright along with her partner Michael Black, Rachelle Davis and her husband Ramel Davis, Elizabeth Haley, and Jasmine Haley. Roxanne had 6 grandchildren who lovingly called her Nana and will miss her forever: Amariah , Ramiah, Quamir, Layla and Loriell. She also leaves behind a host of friends, in-laws, church family, god children, nieces and nephews.

Roxanne will be missed for her huge heart, her laughter, her sense of humor, her love of seafood, and most of all, her love for God. Her family is proud to know that her living was not in vain.
