Ross Sterling Weddle, 75 of rural Du bois, Nebraska passed away on March 17, 2014. He was born on October 3, 1938, the youngest of four children to Bryan and Virginia (Rhineshart) Weddle at home west of Peru, NE. He attended school in Peru and Auburn, NE.
In his early years, Ross worked for several local farmers and brother-in-law during the summers. After High School, Ross worked in construction operating heavy equipment.
On February 18, 1966 Ross married Cynthia Elaine Meier in Nebraska City. They lived in Jamestown, Kansas for a short time where Ross worked for an International Implement dealership, then they moved to Auburn, NE. There Ross worked for the John Deere and International dealerships, the Nebraska Department of Roads, WoodCarve Industries, then opened his own repair shop in Auburn, known as Ross’Repair until moving south of Du Bois in 1979 to help his father-in-law with the farming and started a repair shop again.
In 1971, Ross built the family an in ground home north of Auburn, with the help of his father and father-in-law.
While living in Auburn two children were born to Ross and Cynthia, Michael Alan on January 31, 1971 and Kristi Kay on March 7, 1976.
After the death of Ross’s brother-in-law, Lynn, the family moved on the Meier home place south of Du Bois. Ross opened a repair shop and farmed until his health began to decline. One of Ross’ special gifts and something he always took pride in was being able to ‘fix’ anything, especially if someone else couldn’t fix it then he would.
Ross was a man of many talents. He enjoyed camping, fishing, feeding the birds, tending to his many cats and watching his grandchildren grow.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, brother Glenn, sisters baby Jane, June McConnaughey and Joy Matejka.
He leaves to mourn his wife Cynthia of Du Bois, NE, son Michael and wife Cathy of Peck, KS, daughter Kristi Sutton and husband Trent of Witcha, KS, grandchildren, Victoria Weddle and Brody and Legacy Sutton, nieces, nephews and many other friends and family.
