Rosemary was born on May 13, 1921 in Indiana to Fred and Nora (Long) Odiet.
She is survived by her brother Fred Odiet, Jr. and her six children: Sue Clarke (Ron), Barbara Emmons (Woody), Mark Angelos (Terry), Mary Shanley (Mike), Paul Angelos, and Kathleen Eno (Joe). She also has 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Her husband of 66 years, Thomas Angelos, died in 2008.
Rosemary graduated from St Mary-of-the-Woods College in 1941, married Tom in May, 1942 and the two headed to California to begin their long life together. She fell in love with gardening there-a life-long passion which included raising roses, African violets, orchids, and indoor succulents. They later moved to Denver, Colorado and Palatine, Illinois before returning to Colorado for their retirement years. During all these years Rosemary continued her passionate interest in her various hobbies, including ethnic cooking, quilting, and watercolor painting. Every evening she played the piano, especially loving to play and sing Irish folk tunes. She was a voracious reader often reading two or three books at a time. She loved the challenge of a good Scrabble game or a difficult level of double Solitaire. While she and Tom loved to travel, her favorite destination was Hawaii where she returned often and mastered the specialized art of Hawaiian quilting. In 1970 she received her master’s degree from National College of Education in Skokie IL. She was a gifted teacher who during her career taught special ed, reading, and English as a New Language. Education was always an important priority, so she and Tom made sure all six of their children earned a college degree. One of her proudest retirement accomplishments was the completion of four years of Catholic Biblical School of Denver. Rosemary was well-known and appreciated for her quick wit and sense of humor. She had an inquisitive mind and her curiosity about life and learning continued until her death. She will be missed by all who loved her.
