Rosemary Greider, 85, of Jacksonville, IL died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born November 27, 1931 in Fairbury, IL, the daughter of John Wesley and Mary Genevieve O’Malley Gouge. She married James B. Greider on January 7, 1950 in Pontiac, IL and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2011.
She is survived by two sons, James B, Greider Jr. (wife, Linda) of Rantoul and Kevin A. Greider (wife, Dianna) of Winchester; six granddaughters, Beth Ann Larson (husband, Eric) of Rantoul, Jennifer Lynn Gardner of Urbana, Jerica Greider (fiance, James Lawhorn) of Lebanon, TN, Taylor Williams of Dayton, OH, Kelsey Jo Greider of Rantoul, and Rachelle Brown (husband, Derek) of Winchester; four great granddaughters; a great grandson; a sister, Virginia Hajny (husband, Rudy) of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews including Donna Crane (husband, Ron) of LaPorte, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Cheryl McDowell and in infancy, Sharon Lee Greider; a great granddaughter; and six brothers, John Joseph Gouge, Leroy Gouge, Richard David Gouge, William Robert Gouge, Allen “Doc” Gouge, and Dexter Gerald Gouge.
Rosemary was a retired school bus driver and superintendent at the Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, serving over 20 years. She was a member of the Rantoul Church of the Nazarene and more recently had attended the Salvation Army Citadel in Jacksonville and volunteered with many Salvation Army programs. She enjoyed attending senior day events with friends at the Salvation Army. She also enjoyed flower gardening and possessed a green thumb when raising orchids at her home.
