Rosemary Darlene Schafer, age 72 of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.
Rosemary Darlene Schafer, the daughter of Nicholas and Christina Maxine (Blass) Hoch Sr., was born on February 20, 1946, in Cylinder, Iowa. She graduated from Cylinder High School in 1964. After graduation, Rosemary attended Iowa Lakes Community College and earned her Associate of Science Degree in Hotel Management. She was united in marriage to Ronald Schafer in 1968 and the couple later divorced in 1996. Rosemary was very instrumental and active in her grandchildren’s lives from the firstborn to the last born. They were the apple of her eye. Rosemary loved to sew and made blankets for all her grandchildren whom she loved to spend time. She enjoyed playing card games, making crafts, bowling, and singing Karaoke.
Rosemary is survived by her sons, Kelly (Laura) Schafer of St. Joseph, Kasey (Katie) Schafer of West Bend, and Kregg (Stephanie) Shafer of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Kelsey (Ethan) Coleman, Kyle, Jordan, Clara, Henry, Cora, Cannon, Noah, and Gabe Schafer; great-grandchild, Quinn Coleman; sisters, Marilyn (Larry) Neubauer of Ardmore, OK and Lois (John) Hostettler of Milbank, SD; brothers, Nick (Prudy) Hoch of Cylinder and Jim (Hazel) Hoch of Emmetsburg and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Kyle and Kirk Schafer, and a brother, Tom Hoch.
