Obituary for Rosemary TaylorSeptember 20, 1937 – October 30, 2021Rosemary D. Taylor, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 30, 2021, with loving family by her side. She was born September 20, 1937 in New Britain, CT to the late Albert and Adelina Carmelina (Pedrolini) Dionne. Rosemary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, William David Taylor in 2010, and most recently, in March 2021, her precious identical twin sister, Annamay Leonard. An honors graduate of Plainville High School class of 1955, Rosemary shared superlative honors of most talkative with her identical twin sister. Rosemary was awarded full scholarship to Middlesex School of Nursing, and attended until she decided to work full-time so that her husband may attend Nursing School. Rosemary met her future husband at a Christian Youth Camp in upstate New York when they were just in their teens. She was drawn to talented, young David as he played beautiful hymns on the piano. Annie said to her twin, “You’re going to marry him!” And that she did!Rosemary was a Christmas Bride, marrying David on Christmas Eve., 1955. Rosie and David started their beautiful family at a very young age. Their biggest joy was providing love and happiness to their four children. It was their top priority until they each drew their final breath. Rosemary enjoyed listening to her first-born son David play the piano and drums. She cherished the yearly vacations that he made with his precious family from Florida. She enjoyed listening to Stephen play classical guitar beautifully on the side porch at “66,” and all of his jokes. She felt so fortunate to be able to attend live symphony concerts as her daughter Suzanne played with the Torrington Symphony Orchestra. At the receptions after the concerts, Rosie and Annie would sit by the back door and enjoy shrimp cocktail that Annie’s husband Bruce served them. Maybe a few cookies to go too! She was so proud of Jeffrey as he played numerous Trumpet solos. And she looked forward to the delicious Mother’s Day breakfast feasts that he would prepare for her. In the earlier years, Rosemary enjoyed family camping trips to Point Judith, RI that the Taylors and the Leonards took together every summer. She loved Christmas and spoiling her children and grandchildren with presents. Rosie and Annie were quite well known at West Farms Mall in their day! For decades, if you were ever at the Log House Restaurant on a Thursday evening, you probably heard a loud table of Taylors and Leonards enjoying family time together. The twins always had room for a hot fudge sundae for dessert! Annie’s husband Bruce spoiled the twins by preparing outstanding dinners every night and would travel to New Britain to get a couple of “Cappy Hotties,” on a dime’s notice, if that’s what they wanted! Whatever the Twinkies wanted, Bruce provided lovingly and willingly. Rosie couldn’t have asked for a better brother-in-law. Back in the day, if you saw a burgundy Cadillac pass you on Main Street in Winsted, chances are it was Rosemary with her lead foot, holding a Dunkin Donuts’ coffee zooming by you! The family picnics at “66” with her niece Karen, and nephews Chris and Mark were highlights none of us will ever forget.A mention must be made of the love Rosemary had for sports. She and Annie would literally stay up all night watching tv. March Madness was their favorite. They would record every single game televised and watch each and every one! They were Georgetown Hoya fans, and you better not spoil any scores for them or you were in deep trouble! Rosie also enjoyed NFL games and NHL games. The Olympics were always something to look forward to. Needless to say, the tv was on 24-hours a day!One of Rosemary’s most enduring qualities was her sense of spontaneity. She would brake into song, quote poetry, line by line as it fit the situation, the same way she quoted Bible Verses. She might also start to dance if she heard one of her favorite songs. This “spontaneity” has been passed along to her children and grandchildren. We have all in some way benefited from her many gifts. Rosemary loved wholeheartedly, was loved, and was LOVE. In addition to her dearly departed beloved husband David, her inseparable twin Annamay, and parents, Rosemary is survived by her four children, William David Taylor Jr., and wife Diane of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Stephen Taylor and wife Rebecca of Winsted; Suzanne Reynaud and husband Tony of Harwinton; and Jeffrey Taylor and wife Christine of Harwinton. Four adored grandchildren, Erica Taylor, Krystal Taylor, Emily Taylor and Matthew Taylor. Her dear brother-in-law Bruce Leonard, niece Karen (Karen) Leonard, nephews Christopher Leonard, Mark (Julieth) Leonard and Harold Colby. Grandnieces and nephews, Joel, Christina and Fred Colby, Rian, Nicole and Jacob Leonard, and Sophie Mangine. Several cherished aunts, uncles and cousins. Rosemary was predeceased by her infant son, Ronald John Taylor, her precious grandson William David Taylor III, her beloved sister Janice Colby, niece Cathy Colby, and mother-in-law Edith Taylor.Services are private and Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main St., Winsted, CT has care of the arrangements.
