Rose W. Johnson, 94, of 20 Onota St., Side by Side, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield, July 30, 1914, the daughter of Teofil and Mary Stockley Paulski she attended the local schools and was a 1933 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mrs. Johnson and her late husband, Edward J. Johnson Sr., were the proprietors of Johnson’s Package Store on North St. for many years. Following his death in 1971 she continued to operate the store until her retirement in 1991.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Charles Church and was a member of the Emblem Club. In her earlier years she enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, and puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She leaves three sons, James Johnson of Geneva, IL, Kenneth Johnson of Atlanta, GA, and Edward Johnson of Pittsfield, one daughter, Rosemary Schnopp of Pittsfield, a sister, Marion Paulski of Pittsfield, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters, Alice Welch, Betty Fuchs, and Della Murphy.
