Rose Slater was born on July 7, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY. She passed away on November 10, 2022, in Albuquerque, NM, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by husbands, Frank Amstadt (1974) and Richard Slater (2004); and son, Ken Owens (2019).

Rose was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She left behind sons, Allan Amstadt, John Amstadt, Joseph Amstadt, and Guy Slater; daughters, Anna Among, Lisa Lepard, Katy Lewis, Alison Schumann, Lisa Mayberry, Terri Myers, Vickie English; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rose was strong; she endured the Depression, childhood in an orphanage, and WWII. She survived two husbands, raised 12+ children, and conquered cancer twice. She was affectionate and patient and had unconditional love. Rose opened her home to others. She was very social and outgoing, enjoyed people, was easy to talk to, and made friends easily.

Rose was the matriarch of our family. Her best celebration was her 90th birthday, which was a family reunion in her honor. Rose was our Queen and dressed like one for the occasion!

Rose’s life advice: “Enjoy yourself. Have fun. Love each other and stay together.”
