Rosina (Rose) Maselli, known for a smile that could light up a room, passed away from natural causes on October 13, 2021 at the age of 93 at Parker at Stonegate Assisted Living in Highland Park, NJ. She was born on October 9, 1928, in Queens, NY, the daughter of Rosina and Carlo Pecchio. Her husband, Alfred Maselli, predeceased her by nearly 30 years.
She is also predeceased by her brother, Frank Pecchio by 15 years, and her sister, Nancy Pecchio Vigliarolo by one year.
Rose is survived by her loving, only child, Martie Nees Record, as well as her brother, Carl Pecchio, her sister-in-law, Edda Pecchio, her adoring grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Nees, and her two sons-in-law, Chris Nees and Albert Record. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, to whom she remained close. Each held a special place in her heart. Rose was everybody’s favorite aunt, godmother, and stand-in mother.
As a child, Rose took many trips to Naples, Italy to visit with family. Rose and Alfred started their business, Ro-Al Trimming, in the Manhattan Garment District. They retired in 1985 to move to Florida and become proud members of the Clearwater Italian-American Club. At the club, Rose often cooked for over a hundred guests at a time. When out of the kitchen, she could be found on the dance floor with Alfred, and later, with her second husband, Sal Alesi.
Rose moved to Highland Park, NJ to be near her daughter and grandchildren in 2015. It didn’t take long for the residents of the neighborhood to fall in love with her, just as her neighbors at Parker at Stonegate Assisted Living did when she became a resident in 2019.
