Rose Mary (Zichelli/Bianco) Antel passed away January 24, 2008, quietly at home surrounded by family and friends. Throughout her long, gallant fight, she continued to show her great unconditional love, loyalty, compassion, generosity and forgiveness towards others.
She was born in Montclair, New Jersey on November 9, 1928, and spent her childhood years in New Jersey. On April 18, 1946, Rose married Steve (Stefan Antal) Antel. Over the years, Steve’s military career took them many places including Eglin AFB in the early 1950’s. When Steve retired in 1965, they chose to settle in Fort Walton Beach. They were adventurous traveling extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
In the generation of stay-at-home moms, Rose expressed her individuality and uniqueness by succeeding in several careers. After her career at the Eglin AFB Exchange, she went on to open a mom and pop motel and later a travel agency with her son-in-law, Wayne. The travel agency was sold in 1997 and Rose retired once again. Her retirement years were spent enjoying family, friends and traveling.
Rose is survived by her husband, Steve Antel; her son, George Antel; her daughter Dianne and son-in-law Wayne Simpson; her sister Louisa and brother-in-law Bob Kelleher; her brother-in-law George Antal,; nieces, nephews and many friends.
