Rose Mary Temple Lasher, born December 03, 1947 (72) to Otis Alfred Temple and Helen Mary Murphy Hensley, at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Memphis, TN, she passed away in her home in Animas, NM on July 24, 2020
Rose Mary (AKA Rosie/Grammy) was raised in Memphis, TN until 1954. With her father being in the U.S. Navy, Rose Mary grew up in Waco, TX 1955-1958. Once her father retired in 1958, they ended up in El Paso, TX, where Rose Mary was part of the first graduating class of Eastwood High School, El Paso TX, in 1965. While attending Eastwood High School, Rosie was part of the Trooperettes (Drum Majors).
Rosie loved to dance, she met the love of her life on the dance floor at the Red Barn, in El Paso, TX, Clayton Jack Lasher, while he was stationed at Fort Bliss, and they were married on August 25, 1967. In December of 1968, Rosie moved to Animas, NM, with her husband where he worked on the Diamond A Ranch.
Coming from a big city to a small county town, she learned how to cook on a wood burning stove, she became the cook for the cowboy chuck wagon during the branding seasons, she loved being out in the country. In 1974, they moved to Playas, NM. While in Playas, Rosie worked as a receptionist for the Playas Clinic for many years. In 1977 she started driving the Animas School Bus for Louise Peterson for many years.
She worked for TIC as a security/medical guard, and she was part of the Women’s Bowling Association (WBA), and traveled all over for tournaments. In 1985 Rosie became a Licensed EMT-Basic, volunteering for the Animas Fire Department. In 1987 Rosie became a Licensed EMT-Intermediate and in 1991 Rosie began her career working for Hidalgo County EMS as an EMT-Intermediate and book keeper, after 25 years with Hidalgo County EMS Rosie retired in 2016. Rosie also served on the board for EMS Region II for 4 years. Rosie loved working for Hidalgo County and being there to help and support the community. Rosie enjoyed her time with her grandchildren, never missed a game or a county/state fair, she also loved to go camping. Rose Mary was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lordsburg, NM and San Felipe Church in Rodeo, NM.
She is preceded in death by her parents Otis Alfred and Helen Temple, Step-father Robert Hensley, her Husband of 53 years Clayton Jack Lasher, and son Otis Dell Lasher. Rose Mary is survived by her son J.T. Lasher (wife Danielle Darnell), daughter Shannon Lasher, grandson’s Colton Allen, Patrick Lasher and Darren Edgar (Jordan Edgar), two great-grand daughters Addison and Hailey Edgar, Sister-in-laws Paula Samples (Leon Samples) and Beverly Fralie (Ernie Fralie) and many nieces and nephews.
