Through infinite and divine wisdom, God called our beloved Rose Mary (Dean) Hogan Mogan from labor to reward on Wednesday December 4, 2019. Dean entered this life on August 21, 1948 in Chicago, IL. She was the first of two children born to the late Albert Hogan and Barbara (Hogan) Goldmon. After relocating to Pine Bluff Arkansas with her mother and brother Leo, she and her eleven siblings were raised in Pine Bluff Arkansas by the late Curtis Goldmon Sr. and Barbara S. Goldmon.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Wheeler Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She received her early education in Lincoln County and her middle-grade education and Merrill Jr. High. She graduated from Southeast High School in 1966 and attended AM&N College for two and a half years, before moving to New York, NY and then to Chicago, IL. In Chicago, she worked 36 years at Jewel Food Stores, retiring in 2004 for medical reasons. She worked her way up to delicatessen manager after only 10 months on the job.

Rose Mary was united in holy matrimony to Daniel Patrick Mogan on April 29, 2005. Dan was a devoted husband and companion to Dean until God called her home. Dean was known for her dedication to family and friends. Her younger siblings speak fondly of her personal sacrifices. She would send them new clothes for Easter, the start of each new school year, their birthdays and coats for the winter. Only Dean knows the true depth of these sacrifices; however, all who knew her speak of her unselfish acts of generosity and love.

She was renowned for her love of cooking, developing new recipes and for serving her loved ones. Believing that you taste first with your eyes, her goal was to make food not only taste good but look good too. In her later years, she took up writing. Her love for writing was demonstrated in long Facebook posts/stories, articles and letters. She also authored a massive cookbook titled “Sharing our Favorite Recipes”. The book was dedicated to the memory of her mother, Barbara S. Goldmon who she credited with being her first cooking instructor.

Dean was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis H. Goldmon, Sr., and Barbara S. Goldmon, her sister Raye Evelyn Williams and brother Leo Hogan. She leaves to cherish and share memories of her love, her husband, Dan Mogan; daughter Briana Anderson; stepdaughter Michelle Lightford; 7 brothers, Curtis Goldmon Jr. (Vivian), William Henry Goldmon (Carolyn), Alfonso Washington Goldmon (Jackie), Delma Goldmon (Sandra), Anderson Goldmon (Renee), Moses Goldmon (Suzzette), and Dewayne Goldmon (Debra); 2 sisters Bettye Wilborne-Lee, and Reba McIntosh (Michael); 1 brother in law, Robert Williams; 27 nieces and nephews; 1 uncle (Nathaniel Ford); 1 aunt (Rosa Ford); her long time “Chicago friend” Alberta Parks and a host of other relatives and friends.
