Rose Marie Helen Manchon, age 73, died on Monday, February 23rd at St. Tammany Parish Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Born in New Orleans on June 19, 1941, she was the daughter of Denis Davis and Helen Elizabeth Jarboe Manchon. She attended St. Henry and St. James Major Catholic Elementary Schools, graduating from St. Mary’s Dominican High School in 1958. Following her completion of study at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, she married, raised her children and nurtured her family in the New Orleans area. Rose continued her education, receiving her MSN from LSU Medical Center. For many years, she worked with Phillip Rye, MD prior to her career as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Public/Community Health Nursing. For ten years, she was employed by East Jefferson General Hospital, where she served as the Director of the Elder Advantage Program. In 1995, Rose Manchon moved to Tucson, where she managed parish nursing programs and diabetic centers for St. Mary’s Hospital and later for the Carondolet Health Network throughout Southern Arizona. While residing in Tucson, she was active in community organizations and served on several professional boards of directors. Ms. Manchon retired in 2003, and returned to the New Orleans area.
