Rose Limatola, 97, a long time resident of Ridgewood and Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ passed away at her home on Monday, January 8, 2018, surrounded by her family. Rose was born in Castelmezzano, Potenza, Italy on February 18, 1920 to Rosaria and Joseph Eufemia. She immigrated to the United States in 1924 and was raised in the Bronx along with her brothers Frank and James, and sister Theresa. She received her BS in Chemistry from Hunter College in NYC in 1941, then embarked on a career as an analytic chemist at Trubek Laboratories, Primo Pharmaceuticals and Shulton, Inc. Rose met her future husband Ralph at Trubek prior to WWll and they married in 1945. She eventually left the industry to devote all her time to raising her four children. Rose then pursued a teaching certificate and started a second career in 1965. She taught briefly at Mount Carmel in Ridgewood, Joyce Kilmer in Mahwah, then for the next 18 years at Highland Avenue School in Midland Park. She retired in 1985, then started her final 15 year career as a private tutor. Rose is survived by her sons Dennis and Michael; daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Robert Allatto; grandson John Limatola; grandson Thomas Limatola and his wife Emma and great granddaughter Kathryn Rose. She is predeceased by her husband Ralph, daughter Jeanette and daughter-in-law Kathryn. For many years Rose was an active member of the Ho-Ho-Kus Garden Club and Women’s Club.
