Rose K. Newton, 97, of Granger passed away Friday, March 10, 2006 in Hospice House of St. Joseph County. She was born on May 13, 1908 in South Bend to (the late) Stan & Stella Bentkowski. On May 9, 1927 in Benton Harbor, MI., she was untied in marriage to (the late) Paul A. Newton.

She is survived by her children Paul (Pat) Newton and his wife Doris of Osceola, George W. Newton and his wife Clara of South Bend and Helen V. Johnson and her husband Harry of Granger.

Preceding her in death are her son Richard Newton, daughter Betty Modlin-Armold, brothers Joseph and Casimer Bentkowski and sisters Helen Bentkowski, Mary Grzesiak and Lottie Levandowski.

Rose was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 29 great-great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was known by all as Grandma Rose and even if she wasnt your grandmother you soon came to know and love her as your very own grandma!

Her passion was her family and cooking. She taught us all the importance of family and love. Nothing made her happier than to have her family around her enjoying her homemade vegetable soup, noodles and cheesecake. No one ever needed to worry about going hungry with Grandma Rose. We can all still hear her telling us you better get something to eat or Eat Eat! Grandma loved and was loved by many. She was an amazing woman who welcomed everyone with love and care. She had a tremendous impact on every persons life she touched. She was a beautiful person with a feisty attitude and loving affection for everyone. She will be deeply missed by many!
