Rose K. Mango, 89, a former long-time resident of Upton, died early Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Stella Maris in Timonium, MD after a period of declining health. She was a registered nurse who worked in Veterans’ Administration hospitals in West Roxbury, Framingham, and Rutland and then at the former Belmont Hospital in Worcester before retiring in 1980.
Rose was born in Portland, ME, one of eight children of the late Carmino and Vincenza (Avoila) Mango. She came to Upton as an infant and lived here most of her life. A devout Catholic, she was a faithful communicant of the former Holy Angels Parish in Upton, where she served as the chair of religious education and taught religious education classes. She was also a member of the Upton Woman’s Club, a world traveler, and avid golfer.
She was predeceased by her seven siblings and leaves her nephews, Dr. John Anderson of Glen Arm, MD, Peter Mango of Winchester, VA, and John Mango of Cary, NC; and a niece Joann Marquis of Powell, WY.
