Rose I. Maddox, 74, of Petersburg and formerly of Jacksonville died Friday, December 7, 2012 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.
She was born April 23, 1938 in Chapin, the daughter of Woodrow Laughery and Clarabell Ballenger Laughery Gimbel. She married Robert Lee Maddox and they later divorced.
She is survived by two sons, Robert D. Maddox (wife, Amy) of Chandlerville and George W. Maddox (wife, Patricia) of Springfield; five grandchildren, Rick, Alyssa (husband, Chris), Jennifer (husband, Jesse), Blake, and Brandy; three great grandchildren, Akaysha, Kyler, and Faith Rose; a brother, Carl Gimbel of Jacksonville; a sister, Tina Lippert (husband, Rich) of Versailles; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, George G. Gimbel; her former husband; a brother, George R. Gimbel; and a sister, Lula Bell Daniels.
Mrs. Maddox was employed several years as a CNA for area nursing homes and lived many years at Beecher High Rise where she served as Tenant Council President.
