Rose Elizabeth Edmonds, age 79, of Rensselaer passed away June 28, 2010 at her home. Rose was born in Shelbyville, IN November 29, 1930 to Edna (Fell) and Rollin Hay. She attended school in Oxford, IN.

On September 13, 1947, in Lafayette, Rose married Edward Gene Edmonds. They lived in Chalmers and New Richmond before moving to Rensselaer where they made their home for the past 48 years.

Rose was a homemaker. For 25 years she was a teacher’s aide with the Rensselaer Central Schools and a coach. For 20 years Rose was “second-in-command” of the Bomber-Boiler Relays at Purdue University and was a master certified USA Track & Field official. She catered the Burvan-Edmonds Golf Outing for 17 years. Rose was a member of the Red Hat Society and belonged to two bridge clubs where she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rensselaer.

Surviving with her husband Gene are five children, James (Tonia) Edmonds, Lafayette, Larry (Jackie) Edmonds, Portage, Mike (Charlotte) Edmonds, Waynesboro, GA, Eddie (Delian), Phoenix, AZ and Valerie (Rick) Frazee, Lafayette; nineteen grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Jack Hay of Lafayette and Dan Hay of Rensselaer and four sisters, Gwen Ladd, Oxford, Nancy Cordes, Lafayette, Barbara Sondgerath, Lafayette and Nicha Senesac, Oxford. Rose was preceded in death by two children, Carol Odle and Terry Edmonds and her parents.
