Rosann Marie Doran, 70, of Broomfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday after a brave 18 month struggle with cancer. She was surrounded by dear friends and loved ones, including her sister, Danette Grauberger and son, Daniel Doran. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Bob Grauberger, nephew, Josh Grauberger, and great-niece Lexi Marie, as well as numerous and beloved family members throughout Denver.
Family was first and foremost to Rosann. She was born in Denver, the daughter of Daniel (Wally) Schaffer and Josephine Schaffer (neé Brancucci). Rosann grew up in Arvada with her sister Danette, where she attended Arvada High School. Later, she graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, receiving her BA in English (1969). In the mid-1970s, she moved to Broomfield, where ‘family’ expanded to include her tenacious and loving friendships with a wide array of friends.
A consummate lover of language, Rosann turned her degree in English into a longtime career in journalism. She cofounded the Broomfield Enterprise newspaper (1975). After the sale of the newspaper in 1987, Rosann transitioned to become Broomfield’s public information officer, a post she held for more than 20 years.
In 2013, Rosann won a Heartland Regional Emmy Award for producing the video, “Broomfield: Spirit of the American Dream.
