SHAW, Ed.D. 1941~2019Rosalie P. Shaw Ed.D (nee Papa), of Springfield, PA, passed away after a short illness on March 31, 2019 at the age of is predeceased by her husband, David L. Shaw, and her parents, Angelo and Angela Papa (nee Mazza). She is lovingly remembered by her children, David J. (Renee), Virginia (Gary) Fredericksen, Angela (Joe) McKeown and Charlie and her six grandchildren, Rita (Andrew), Harry, Victoria, Jacob, Erin, and Andrew.Rosalie was born in Philadelphia on October 16, 1941. She graduated from the Academy of the Sisters of Mercy (Gwynedd Mercy) in 1959 and completed her undergraduate studies at Chestnut Hill College in 1963. She obtained her M.S in Chemistry from The Ohio State University in 1964, and her Ed.D from Widener University in 2003.After working in her field of study for several years, she took time away from work to raise her family. In the late 1970’s she embarked on her career as a teacher, which spanned five decades, most notably teaching Chemistry at Cardinal O’Hara High School and Widener greatest joys were her faith and her family. She was actively involved with her parish, St. Francis of Assisi in Springfield, first serving as a cantor and lector, and more recently as a Eucharistic minister and with the Legion of Mary. She leaves behind a legacy of spiritual and family traditions for her family to cherish and practice.
