On Saturday, January 12, 2019, Rosa B. Lucero of Scottsdale peacefully passed away at the age of 92.  She was surrounded by her family.

Rosa was born on August 29, 1926 in Berino, New Mexico. She spent her early life performing farm labor, harvesting crops by hand.   In approximately 1942, she relocated to Arizona where she married Amador H. Lucero and became mother to two sons, Manuel and Amador B.

Rosa played an active role in the Scottsdale Chapter of the American Legion.  She was active in the Women’s Auxiliary where she received recognition.  Without a doubt, Rosa’s true passion rested in caring for her family, providing quality meals and impeccable attire.

Rosa spent her mornings in the kitchen ensuring the legacy of her culinary delights lived on. Whether it was the rhythmic ritual of tortilla making, careful simmering of her beans, or her meticulous chile preparations for her salsas, she passed on an invaluable tradition of cooking with love.  Rosa unconditionally welcomed her loved ones and guests into her home confirming they were well-fed, rested and given the comfort only a mother knows how to give.  Nothing delighted Rosa more than time spent talking and laughing with her family.

Rosa takes her place in heaven with her parents, her husband, Amador H. Lucero, and her siblings, Maria, Genoveva, and Fidel.  She is survived by her two sons, Manuel B. Lucero (Dolores), Amador B. Lucero (Kathleen), two granddaughters, Tiffani Lucero Pastor (Robert E.) and Tamara Lucero Goodell (Samuel), a step-grandson Kevin (Amy) and five great-grandsons Amador J., Robert Henry, Joaquin, Lucien, Leonardo, one step-great-grandson Conor and one step-great-granddaughter Avery. Rosa is also survived by three sisters, Maxine, Anita, and Mary Lou.

Those she leaves behind take great comfort knowing that no matter where they are the memories of their beloved Rosa will always take them home.
