Mr. Roosevelt (Little Jr.) Johnson Jr., was born in Morgan County, Alabama to the late Roosevelt Johnson Sr., and Elnora Rice. He attended the Decatur City Schools.
He departed this life of Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Parkway Campus. He accepted Christ in his early years and joined Fletcher’s Chapel P.B. Church under the leadership of the Rev. Kenneth Lankford Jr., in Greenbrier. He later joined Union Grove P.B. Church where he remained until his death.
He worked throughout the Decatur area in different plants driving trucks until he decided to take to “Take to the Road”. So he went over the road driving any and every where for some 45+ years. He loved his Big Rigs. He had a love for his trucks. He would always tell his family “No one can handle a Rig like your Big Bro, and that’s what he meant. Those trucks were his passion, his life, he loved it and he lived it and he was very good and careful at it. He was the Best Rig driver ever. He was a very loving and funny brother, uncle, nephew, and granddad. But most of all, we know he was and still is a child of God and we all will miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bettie Lee Johnson, brother, Willie Frank Johnson and one daughter, Wanda Evans.
He leaves all of his funny jokes, laughing, hugging, and most of all his love to be cherished by: one daughter, Linda (Warren) Hines of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters, Tennie Lee Johnson and Catherine Mosley both of Decatur; one aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Kennedy of Decatur; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sleep on Brother we know you are in Good Hands. Now we love you and thanks for just being you. We all will meet again in that great bye and bye. You will forever be in our hearts and on our minds, especially your sisters. You were simply the Best. R.I.P.
