Roosevelt James, Sr., 73, of Middletown, husband of Betty (Cunningham) James for forty-six years, passed away on Friday, October 17th at Apple Rehab in Middletown. Born in Darlington, SC, he was the son of the late Ervin and Beulah (Samuel) James, Sr. Roosevelt lived in Middletown since the 1960’s and was employed at Middletown Builders for over thirty years and at Pratt & Whitney for five years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. In addition to his wife, Roosevelt is survived by seven sons, Roosevelt James, Jr., Franklin James, Tyrone James, all of Middletown, Dwayne Jenkins of New Britain, Scott Jenkins of Middletown, Ronnie Bostick of Manchester and Steven Jenkins of TX; two daughters, Debra James Burgess of Middletown and Renee Rogers (Michael), of New Britain; two brothers, Dewey James (Inez) of Middletown and Ervin James, Jr. (Bertha) of Whitesville, NC; three sisters, Doris Hamilton (Charles) and Hattie Mae Murrey, both of Darlington, SC and Trannie Dubose of Albany, NY; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
