Ronny Jon Langholz, 72, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend died peacefully on October 30, 2017 in Spirit Lake Iowa following a yearlong fight with cancer and recent complications. He was happy to have come home from a lengthy hospital stay the day before and had a great day watching his Iowa State Cyclones win a big game surrounded by family. Ron was born on June 18, 1945 to John and Amanda (Bockhop) Langholz in Cherokee, IA. He grew up and spent his entire life in the Spencer and Spirit Lake Iowa area. He was an avid traveler having visited all 50 States on numerous family vacations and trips to visit friends and relatives. He always looked forward to playing 500 with his longtime card club which was often more about the food and friendship than the cards. Ron loved cars and racing having attended numerous Indy 500’s from the 1960’s into the 2000’s. He was a member of the Iowa Great Lakes Corvette Club and enjoyed the people more than the cars. Ron also was an avid sports fan, enjoying watching everything but particularly events his grandchildren participated in. While Ron cherished his many social activities his real and abiding passions were his family and friends. Ron’s sense of humor and love lives on in his children and grand-children as he instilled a zest for life, a commitment to family and friends, and the power of laughter. His grandchildren especially will remember their buddy ole pal who was always ready for a game of cards and had their favorite candy in hand. Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Jo Langholz, sons Kelly (Becky) Langholz and Kent (LeAnne) Langholz, grandchildren Katriana (Ryan) Cook, Avery Langholz, Katie Langholz, Sarah Langholz, Claire Taylor, Nicholas Langholz. Sister Jan (Roger) Smith and Marjean Hanno, sister-in-law Marilee Langholz and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lauren Langholz.
