Ronald Walter Smith Age 68 of Owosso passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Sparrow Health Systems. Funeral Services will be held 11am Thursday January 12, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor James Bare officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10am until time of service.Ronald was born in Owosso on March 31, 1948, the son of Walter and Ella (Gardner) Smith. He graduated from Owosso High School, then continued his education at Ferris State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree and served in the United States Army.Ronald married Janice Prodell on October 5, 1974 in Rio Creek, Wisconsin.Ronald worked for Shiawassee County as a Tax Assessor for 22 years. After his retirement from Shiawassee County he continued his work in tax assessing for other small townships.Ronald is survived by his sons, Benjamin Smith, Christopher (Christine) Smith and Andrew Smith; grandchildren Emma, Jackson, and Evelyn; brother Fred Smith of Findlay, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and many other loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife; and brothers Richard and John Smith.Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
