Ronald Lee Vandenberg was born February 17, 1943, to Abe and Edna (Hackert) Vandenberg.  He grew up on the farm and attended Pella High school where he met Joyce De Cook.  They were united in marriage on October 8, 1960, at her parents’ home in Leighton. Ron and Joyce lived in Pella and were blessed with two children: Mark and Lori.

Ron worked for Two Rivers Co-op where he served in many roles throughout nearly fifty years of employment. He very much enjoyed working with farmers and helping out in any way he could and often above and beyond what was required. Ron was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities including feeding deer and eagles near Lake Red Rock.

Ron enjoyed helping others, especially those who could not help themselves.  He was quick to work on and fix just about anything for anyone, including trimming trees. Whether you saw Ron around Pella in his pickup truck or riding his bike or motorcycle, he was always quick to stop, chat and share a good laugh.

Ron was dedicated to his family, always putting Joyce first.  He would light up when seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Joyce and their family:
