Ronald D. Sander, 85, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at his home in Denver, CO. He remained clear of mind and full of life until his peaceful end. His unique spirit and wry sense of humor will be sorely missed by friends and family. Born to Hugh and Susan (Bonnie) Sander in Des Moines, IA, Ron graduated from the Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1949. He went on to serve in the United States Navy and to pursue further education at Iowa State University and Drake University. He became a talented engineer and worked on, among other things, the design of wing assembly tools for the B-52 bomber at the Boeing factory in Wichita, KS. In 1959, he married Norma Costantini, his wife of 56 years, after meeting her at Boeing, and they soon moved to Denver, CO. Once in Colorado, Ron continued his career as an engineer working at various companies, including Martin Marietta, Sundstrand, Honeywell, and Storage Technology Corporation. He and Norma adopted their two beloved children, Lori in 1965 and Mark in 1967, to whom he was a devoted father. Ron recently moved to the Balfour in downtown Denver where he remained active and made new friends with the residents and staff members. He became a fixture there: walking the grounds daily, exercising in the gym, and taking part in many of the activities. He is survived by his two children, son-in-law, John, and daughter-in-law, Erin. All send their love with you, Ron.
