Ronald “Ronnie” Cons, 69, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022, at his home with his wife and son by his side.

Ronnie was born August 4, 1952, at Fort Bragg, NC, to the late Ralph and Janice (Sloan) Cons and was an Indiana resident for almost 50 years. He graduated from Owensboro High School in Owensboro, KY. Ronnie married Jenny Walker, on August 8, 1975, in Lafayette, IN.

Ronnie was a Class E-4 Signalman in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving from 1970 – 1974.  He was attached to the destroyer, USS Preble and received many awards and decoration, including the Silver Star, prior to his honorable discharge. After settling in Lafayette, Ronnie worked as a Truck Driver for Waste Management for 25 years.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed college basketball, always supporting his favorite team the Kentucky “Wildcats.” Ronnie enjoyed watching western movies and listening to his favorite rock music.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jenny: son Andy Cons; granddaughter Isabella Cons; stepmother Willow Mae Cons; sisters Chris Barker and Deborah Woodard; brothers Tony (Nell) Cons and Greg (Rose) Dues; his wife’s family; many nieces and nephews; and long-time friends Michael Sloan and Vern Waldon.

Along with his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his son Anthony Cons.
