Ronald Highstreet, a longtime resident of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away at his home on December 25, 2019, at the age of 70.

Ron was born on May 2, 1949, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Emil and Virginia Highstreet. He grew up in Hurley, South Dakota where he graduated high school in 1967 and went on to graduate from the University of South Dakota in 1972 with a degree in Criminology. It was while in college where he met his future wife, Susan Williams. They were united in marriage on August 18, 1973, in Sioux City, Iowa, and went on to raise a daughter, Paula Highstreet Nichols.

Ron served for 25 years as a police agent for the city of Lakewood from 1972 to 1997. During that time, he served as the training agent for the 1977 recruit class, was a member of the SWAT team for several years and later in his career, became the school liaison officer for both Bear Creek High School and Alameda High School.

Following his retirement, Ron worked part time for 20 years at Green Mountain Guns in Lakewood and pursued his love of the outdoors and his passion for hunting and fishing. In 2017, Ron worked briefly for the Discovery Channel providing armed security while the series Gold Rush was being filmed in Fairplay, Colorado. Ron loved his family, loved his friends and loved his life.

Ron is survived by his wife Susan, his daughter Paula and husband Alan Nichols Jr., of Lakewood, two grandchildren, Adrianna Jones of Dallas, Texas, and Brody Nichols of Lakewood, his brother Cliff and wife Micy Highstreet of Hurley, South Dakota, his sister Gina and husband John Logan of Tucson, Arizona, his many nieces and nephews and the rest of his family and friends.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Emil Highstreet and his mother Virginia (Bartels) Highstreet.
