Ron was a decorated Vietnam veteran and spent 21 years in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country as a member of Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) teams having received many commendations. Ron retired from military service in 1986, at Eglin AFB, Florida. Ron’s second career was in aerospace industry where he had a distinguished career working for North American Rockwell (NAR) and The Boeing Company. He enjoyed working on the B1 bomber and Space Shuttle programs. As a logistics engineer, Ron was a part of history when a satellite was first launched from “Sea Launch Program” on March 27, 1999. On July 22, 2004, Ron was also part of history when the first defense missile was installed in our Northern Ground-based Mid-course Defense System in Fort Greely, AK. He continued work on the MDS system in Huntsville, AL until his retirement in 2013. An award hangs on his office wall saying “From Here We Can See a Safer America” which memorialized his life’s work.
Ron was a passionate hobbyist and loved hockey, marksmanship, riding motorcycles, and college football. He truly traveled the world. He also loved camping with his beloved wife and his friends. He was a proud member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in California and Alabama. He was raised to Master Mason on October 20, 1993, and was twice past master at Los Angeles Harbor Lodge #332 in San Pedro, CA. He received The Hiram Award from the Grand Lodge in September 2002 and received The Lewis Award from the Indiana York Rite. He went to Heaven clothed in his white apron as an emblem of innocence, unspotted before the world, illustrating his life well spent.
Ron’s favorite Bible verse is Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ron rests well, eternal in Heaven, missed by his beloved family and friends.
